Recruitment has started at experienced sites: Stellenbosch University in South Africa (first photo), and Makerere University in Uganda (second photo). It will also soon start at Fundaçao Manhiça/Manhiça Health Research Centre in Mozambique.

Recruitment takes place after identification of Xpert-positive patients and verification of inclusion criteria of TB close contacts. Recruitment is being done at peripheral healthcare facilities used by the participating research institutions over an 18-month period. Identification of contacts may take place in households, but study main visits (M0, M6, M12) will be at the healthcare facility where point-of-care testing will be done and additional samples will be collected.

The South African and Mozambican sites will recruit approximately 1515 trial participants each, and Uganda 1010.
